Small Steps leave Big Footprints – Aspire Partner Planning Meeting 10th October 2023August 31, 2023

With the extension of the Aspire to be Deadly Funding now confirmed and with interest high in the future direction of the ACCL/Aspire innovative and game changing collaboration, the time has never been better to invite stakeholders, existing partners, participants, supporters and allies to come together with a focus on creating a refreshed and reframed sport for good program highlighting Live Well Learn Well Lead Well.
We have attendees coming from Oceania, Hockey Australia, Hockey Queensland, FNQ remote and regional as well as our local partners like Safer Streets, School Sport, sporting organizations, government, and schools as well as some Aspire student leaders. We thank our partners and friends for continuing to support this program.
A copy of the Program Flyer and the Program Agenda can be found at this link.
The Aspire Journey has been 20 years in the making. In 2002-2003 – Hockey Queensland then CEO Garry West-Bail started an outside of the box hockey development conversation with me over a glass or 2 of wine and from this conversation grew a vision. Some 20 years later we sit here celebrating that vision and seeking to expand horizons of thought and deed towards strong and diverse opportunities giving acknowledgement and respect to the role sport and hockey in particular can play. It’s not often a 20 year vision is achieved and less often in the area of social impact. Sport remains under-utilised by community and government. The purpose of the conversation is to focus on what can be achieved in collaboration.
A number of strategic non – negotiables were identified and included in development plans 20 years ago to support the paramount consideration of building sustainable frameworks and the workshop will review their relevance 20 years later.

Aspire Remote                         Aspire Schools                        Empower Me
We believe conversations can be progressed with our partners relating to-
• How we can support more regions to trial the Aspire Model connecting school – empower me curriculum aligned programs, Deadly 5’s participation and competition and school to club transition into mainstream participation
• Sport leadership and mentoring – aligned to education and training.
• Deadly 5’s and how this can be a new participation opportunity when traditional hockey formats don’t work.
