Pilbara Community Hockey Program
Hockey Australia is committed to reconciliation and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We are a proud program partner of Aspire to be Deadly
Fortescue Metals Group and Hockey Australia have partnered to form the National Indigenous Program that strives to improve the overall health and wellbeing of children living in the remote indigenous community of Roebourne, Western Australia.
In July 2011, Fortescue and Hockey Australia launched its inaugural hockey clinic that connects high-performance athletes with Roebourne school students through classroom and sporting activities. The hockey clinic aims to provide a solid foundation for improved health and life skills, to promote positive behavioural change and inspire a can-do attitude within its students. The program continues to be a great success, delivering tangible benefits to the community, including improved school attendance.
