who we are

Aspire to be Deadly is the sport for development program delivered through Cairns Hockey with 14 years experience supporting social inclusion programs across regional and remote communities in Torres Strait, Cape York, Gulf Savannah, and Cairns Region Far North Queensland.

Aspire to be Deadly aims to increase awareness, understanding and respect for the indigenous culture of First Nation People of Australia. It will prioritize capability and capacity building targeting indigenous young women and girls with a focus on education, well-being, employment, and leadership opportunities LIVE WELL, LEARN WELL, LEAD WELL using the sport of hockey as a vehicle to drive these positive social outcomes.

What we do

Cairns Aspire to be Deadly is very proud to work with many schools, students, families, business and government supporters, hockey clubs and volunteers to drive the Live Well, Learn Well, Lead Well Program and empower and support indigenous young women.

Our approach

Our approach is based on relationship building, increasing awareness, and celebrating indigenous culture, family engagement, and supporting reconciliation, inclusion, and diversity through a series of mentor programs, sporting pathways, and role model/ambassador access, all designed to empower indigenous young women and girls providing them with the tools to support choices that drive positive outcomes across education, well-being and employment.
